• Indications: Helps against viral and bacterial infections. Useful in upper respiratory tract infections, cough, cold and sore throat. It enhances immunity power of the body.

• Dosage: 1 tea spoon full, thrice a day or as directed by the physician.

• Pharmacological action of active Ingredients; 
  • • Giloy: Giloy is used in Ayurvedic rasayans to improve the immune system and the body’s resistance to infections. The bitter principle present shows antiperiodic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties. It is used in general debility, digestive disturbances, loss of appetite and fever in children. It is also an effective immunostimulant. The drug has antiviral and antibacterial effects. It has a bronchodilating action. It is antiallergic. (N.P.P., p.148) (I.M.M.,1221) (Aryabhishag 202).

   

• Vasaka: The drug is anti-spasmodic and expectorant, which averts the attacks of cough. Vasicine is the alkaloid present in vasaka which is anti-septic, anti-bacterial. It has slight but persistent bronchodilating action and is useful in acute bronchitis. In thick and tenacious cough sputum vasaka liquefies the sputum with the help of the ciliary movement of mucus membrane activated by vasicine, the light is thrown out. Vasaka relieves the irritation and spasm of bronchioles. It is useful in pthisis. It is antibacterial and enhances the relieves the irritation and spasm of bronchioles and has antibacterial action. • Mulethi: The drug is demulcent and expectorant with mild expectoration action. The drug is throat emollient and hence calms the irritated throat and hoarseness of voice. It has anti-inflammatory action. It stimulates the mucus membrane of air passage and is useful in catarrh, asthma, irritation of larynx, throat and hoarseness of voice. (I.M.M.,583)
• Amla: Amla is richest source of vitamin C and improves the resistant power of the body. Amla is antibacterial and antifungal. Amla is useful in dyspepsia,cooling, diuretic, astringent and liver disorders. (Natural plant products, 1989, Chodhary, pages-1, 68 and 131; 2nd edition)
• Tulsi: The drug has astimulaant action and soothes irritated throat and has an expectorant action. It helps liquification of mucus deposited in airways and has antipyretic anti-inflammatory action. It is useful in bronchitis, catarrh and is antibacterial and antiviral properties. (I.M.M., 865)
• Ashwagandha: It is a tonic and gives strength and removes muscle weakness and influences fresh energy and vigour in the system worn out due to disease or over work. It is a nutritive tonic and health restorative in old age people. It is a sedative and aphrodisiac and useful in insomnia, stress and loss of memory, vitality and vigour. •  Trikatu: Trikatu is the combination of Poper nigrum, piper longum, zinziber officinails. The drug increase the bioavaibility of each ingredient and corrects common cold, cough and gastrointestinal disturbances. It is carminative, digestive and has laxative action and is anthelmintic. • Dalchini: Dalchini has numerous medicinal properties and health benefits. It helps to maintain the blood sugar level, control vomiting, reduces breathlessness, strengthens heart muscles.
• Haldi: Haldi is used as a drug for the management of many diseases, such as cancer, inflammations, microbial infections, diabetes, arthritic, muscular disorders, biliary disorders, anorexia, cough, diabetic wounds, hepatic  disorders, and sinusitis. Curcumin also displayed various pharmacological activities including antioxidant, antineoplastic, antiviral, antiinflammatory, antibacterial, antifungal, antidiabetic, anticoagulant, antifertility, cardiovascular protective.
